clip_image002As my eyes scan across the neatly labelled shelving units in my dad’s office, I notice that several labels have been scribbled out. Bold red lines are carved across headings such as ‘Tax Returns’, ‘Invoices’ and ‘Annual Reports’ and replaced with the word ‘GOLF’ in capital letters.

My dad is golf mad. His entire life revolves around golf. And when my mum calls his office secretary to discover his bizarre absence all week, it turns out that a sordid affair, in his words, was a “preposterous assumption!”

Golf, of course, was the answer.

My Dad had neglected to mention to his staff or his wife that he would not be in the office for the five working days due to a regional golf tournament. So The Belfry is obviously one of my Dad’s favourite places in the country.

Golf fans couldn’t visit Birmingham and not pay a visit to the place where Ryder Cup history is made time after time after time. As the UK headquarters of the PGA and home of the Ryder Cup, The Belfry preserves a permanent connection with the noble game of golf.  Here you can walk in the footsteps of golfing legends and give your handicap a dry run with three different courses. So whether, you’re an expert, a rookie, or like me, absolutely pants then you’ll find something to suit you at this prestigious establishment.

If you’re the ill-fated wife/girlfriend/offspring of a golf-obsessed man, then you’ll be in for a treat when he’s booked into The Belfry. The Belfry restaurant serves beautifully prepared French cuisine from only the freshest, finest ingredients. You will be able to enjoy cocktails at the bar whilst the golfer in your life swings a stick at a ball and if you get a window seat, the views are absolutely spectacular.

The Belfry also has a luxury spa with a heated indoor pool and sauna. Bonus for the ladies!
