Weak No More…

Don’t worry. The last I checked, West Midland’s best known underground metal/grunge act, Weak 13 are still going strong. Once a conventional rock band (as conventional as rock goes anyway), Weak 13 is now fronted by one man alone. The founder, producer and frontman of Weak 13, Nick J Townsend remains as the only official member of the group. Nick recruits a live band to join him on stage so that the Weak 13 prodigy can live on for his fans.
But it seems that this once pink-haired frontman has advanced onto greener pastures. He is now a radio presenter for Basement Sound Radio, hosting his own show called ‘Metal Time’ every Saturday night. BSR offer underground and alternative rock/metal bands in Birmingham and the UK a rare opportunity to get their music aired to hungry rock fans. The show asserts to promote what mainstream radio fears – oo er!
For Nick, advancing greener meadows hasn’t left the cows mooing back at Weak 13. He carries the band with him on his new venture – this is what I deduct from listening to his show as he casually slips in one of his own tracks.
In its primitive form, the radio station was nothing more than a pod-cast. BSR became an overnight success, becoming an instant hit with listeners across 30 countries. This underground global internet music station now reaches over a quarter of a million listeners each week!
After only one week of Nick’s edgy enrichments to the radio show, statistics soared by a 212% increase. Nick’s radical injection of slightly riské humour keeps the show fresh and the producers on the edge of their seats. With no prior experience in radio, I am certain that this guy is raw, organic talent with no added preservatives!
Whatever connotations you subtract from Nick’s band name, surely can’t be applicable anymore?

I’ve known nick for many years now, since i was about 15 and attended his rock nights that he set up to get kidderminster to notice the talent we had.
The producers of BSR had better keep hold of him because if they dont they could lose one guy with so much passion that only seem to along once every decade or more
